New Ownership Of Local Piqua Business
Downtown Restaurant Under New Ownership Michalo’s Pizza and Wings in downtown Piqua has brand new ownership and a brand new focus! Christopher Covington and his partner Scott Sumner purchased the downtown eatery in September from previous owners Jim and Donna Paul. In addition to learning the in’s and outs of running a restaurant from the Paul’s they have also contacted the previous owners Carla and Mike Baker to guide them in the important task of getting the signature Michalo’s pizza just right. “Our goal is to serve a consistently great pizza every time.” Says Covington. “Carla and Mike started Michalo’s a number of years ago and they had a great reputation for having really good pizza and sandwiches and we want serve a whole new generation of Piqua residents.” Says Covington, a Piqua native. “With the help of Carla and Mike we have been focusing on our pizza crust to make sure that we can serve a great product every time. We have also gone back to the original suppliers for all the toppings including our cheese, pepperoni and sausage. Consistently good quality is our number one goal.” Says Covington. Hand in hand with serving consistently good food has been the issue of speed. “We know that many business people have less than an hour to get in and out and back to work so we are working making sure we can make that happen every time.” Says Scott Sumner. As soon as Covington and Sumner took over Michalo’s they immediately pared down the menu so that they could focus on quality and consistency. “Our goal is to be a family-oriented restaurant that is known for great food.” Says Covington. Christopher Covington has been around Michalo’s Pizza for several years as he has hosted Karaoke three times a week for many months. “We have a great following of people who love to come out and sing each week.” Says Covington. “We allow everyone in the family to get involved and we all have a lot of fun.” Other changes to the restaurant will be made in the coming weeks including menu changes and different operating hours. “We certainly hope that folks will give us a try and I am sure they will like what they find.” Says Covington. Michalo’s Pizza & Wings is located at 413 N. Main Street in downtown Piqua and they can be reached at 937-778-3888.
